BYK-055

BYK-055 is a silicone-free defoamer on polymer-basis that is suitable for solvent-borne and solvent-free coatings used in advanced materials. BYK-055 allows for maintaining curtain stability in thin coatings and works well with both solvent-borne and solvent-free systems. As a defoamer, BYK-055 helps destroy foam to prevent issues. It can be added during the milling process for optimal defoaming. BYK-055 is especially effective in coatings for advanced materials based on glossy polyester, paraffin polyester, and radiation curable polyester. When used in non-pigmented advanced material systems, it may cause slight turbidity over dark surfaces. Good results have also been found with epoxy systems for advanced materials applications. BYK-055 is recommended for use at levels between 0.1-1.5% of the total formulation to provide defoaming benefits for advanced material coatings and applications.
